Spotlight on Engineering & Architecture – Stillwater Senior Living

Louer Facility Planning demonstrated its expertise in the selection of commercial furniture for the new Stillwater Senior Living community on University Drive in Edwardsville.
The facility, which was completed in December by Korte Construction Co., features 46 living units and spacious common areas including a lounge, coffee bar, dining area and private dining room.
Early in the construction process, local owners and operators Kathy and Bruce Long asked Louer Facility Planning to collaborate with O’Toole Design Associates of St. Louis. O’Toole guided the interior design and finish selections, while Louer Facility Planning made furniture selections based on the owner’s budget and vision for the space.
“The goal was to incorporate the warmth and features found in family homes through rich woods, rustic stone and contemporary yet comfortable furnishings,” says Jane Louer, CEO of Louer Facility Planning. “It was a pleasure to work with Kathy Long, who was sensitive to creating the right atmosphere and willing to go the extra mile to furnish the space tastefully.”
Louer furnished the public spaces including the public and private dining rooms, lounge areas, offices and corridors. Furnishings included game and dining tables, lounge furniture, and special furniture for a children’s playroom. Reinforcing the facility’s local roots, Louer’s team also had custom conference tables created from repurposed wood from the Bode Barn on Goshen Road.
“The challenge of this project was to put together a furniture package from a multitude of vendors, all with custom fabrics, and to order the products to have a coordinated delivery date that coincided with the construction completion,” Louer said. “In total, we placed 45 purchase orders for furniture and fabrics, with no cost overruns to the owner.”
A large part of Louer Facility Planning’s work is focused on design and space planning for corporate workplace environments. Another project the company recently completed was the Roy Schmidt Honda dealership in Effingham. The new car dealership opened in December.
Louer Facility Planning furnished the showroom and sales floor, lounge areas, offices, training room and break room. Louer referenced Honda’s branding to create a comprehensive furniture package for the new facility, which the dealership ordered and installed.
Louer Facility Planning helps clients select furniture, finishes and fabrics for several project types including senior living, health care, corporate, government and educational.
