Fairview Heights Public Library

Fairview Heights, Illinois

Louer Facility Planning has partnered with the Fairview Heights Public Library on multiple projects to modernize and enhance the functionality of this long-standing community resource. Originally constructed in the 1980s, the facility has undergone a series of thoughtful updates aimed at improving both the user experience and overall performance of the space.

Our work has included the design, planning, and execution of custom reading nooks within the children’s library, creating inviting, scaled environments that encourage engagement and support early literacy. In tandem with these updates, we coordinated the replacement of carpet in the children’s area and led the full replacement of flooring throughout the facility—bringing consistency, durability, and a refreshed aesthetic to the entire library.

Additional improvements included the selection and specification of updated lighting fixtures and interior paint finishes, helping to brighten the space and create a more welcoming, modern environment for patrons and staff alike. Louer also provided design services for a new circulation desk, planned to further enhance workflow, visibility, and the overall front-of-house experience.

Collectively, these updates have significantly improved the library’s first impression while supporting day-to-day function. Enhancements to acoustics, circulation, and visual cohesion have created a more comfortable and intuitive environment—better serving the needs of the community and positioning the library for continued use and growth.
