SIUE – Student Success Center, Morris University Center

Edwardsville, Illinois

Louer Facility Planning partnered with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to plan and furnish the refresh of the Student Success Center within the Morris University Center. The project combined both renovation and new furnishings, with a focus on maximizing value while enhancing the student experience.

To make the most effective use of the project budget, our team prioritized the reuse of existing furniture throughout the space. Many pieces were structurally sound but no longer aligned with the university’s brand or aesthetic. By selecting new upholstery and providing reupholstery services, we were able to refurbish and repurpose a significant portion of the existing furniture—extending its life while reducing waste.

New furniture was introduced within the central student area, anchored by a circular gathering space that serves as the heart of the center. Selections were carefully made to reflect SIUE’s brand, incorporating color, comfort, and functionality to support a variety of student activities, including studying, socializing, and individual work.

The project also reflects a commitment to sustainability, reducing environmental impact by minimizing disposal and lowering carbon emissions through the reuse of existing materials. All new furnishings were provided through vendors on the IPHEC cooperative contract, ensuring compliance with university procurement requirements.

The result is a refreshed, cohesive environment that brings the university’s brand to life while creating a dynamic and welcoming space for students.
